Winifred Shantz Award for Ceramics & RBC Award for Glass Award Ceremony


The Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery announced the winners of the 2012 Winifred Shantz Award for Ceramics and the RBC Award for Glass earlier this month on Oct 10th.  The winner for the Winifred Shantz Award for Ceramics is Eliza Au of Richmond, British Columbia. Carole Epp of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan was the runner-up.  The winner of the RBC Award for Glass is Benjamin Kikkert of Toronto, Ontario. Dominique Beaupré St-Pierre of Montreal, Quebec was the runner-up. 

Congratulations to the winners and runners up as these awards are an honour to be nominated for.  I'm very proud of my friends Eliza and Benji!!!  Hard work does pay off, as these are two very dedicated people!

November Pottery Classes

I will have a new session of pottery classes starting on Thursday, Nov 1st.
No prior experience with clay required! Learn to make cups, bowls, vases, etc. on the pottery wheel.
Hand-building, decorating and glazing techniques will also be covered. It's a 7 week class that will run every Thursday night between 6:30-9:30 pm. Please contact me for more information!

 This weekend I will be participating in FUSION: The Ontario Clay and Glass Association's
 Pottery & Glass Show.  Please come out and see my work along with other members of the organization!  It should be a great show of handcrafted work and there will also be a farmer's market Saturday morning.  Buy local!

Parallel Journeys

This exhibition will be opening tonight at the Ontario Craft Council gallery from 6-9pm.  It is a showcase of ceramic work by 20 artists who recently participated in FUSION's mentorship programs.  Curated by Bruce Cochrane and Angelo di Petta, it should promise to be an excellent show!

Fall Pottery Classes

I will have a new session of pottery classes starting on Thursday, Sept 27th.

No prior experience with clay required! Learn to make cups, bowls, vases, etc. on the pottery wheel.
Hand-building, decorating and glazing techniques will also be covered. It's a 7 week class that will run every Thursday night between 6:30-9:30 pm.  Please contact me for more information!

The Dynamic Teapot


I`m teaching a class at the Gardiner Museum in June.  This four-week class will introduce students to design and construction of their own teapot using hand-building techniques, texture and colour decoration.

New Year



Happy New Year! I'm excited for this year and making lot's of new things! Here is a bowl I made a while ago. A first attempt at wax resist on my dark clay. The pattern is drawn from an iron grate. Ok, off to the studio!
