Ice Cycles

This past winter was very snowy and it was quite beautiful, even if at times cold and seemingly never ending.  It even snowed yesterday and it's May already!!  Hopefully this is the last blast from Jack Frost...
I did however make a series of plates that was inspired by the snow and changing weather patterns.  I experimented with down firing multiple times with different layers of glaze. Here are a few examples that came out of that process.  It was fun to see the results after each firing as it was a bit of a departure from my usual work.
I'm pleased to say that one of these plates was accepted into the Fireworks 2013 travelling exhibition presented by FUSION:the Ontario Clay and Glass Association.  The opening reception will take place at Sheridan College Gallery on May 31st from 7-10 pm.  Hope to see you there!
